meet your photographer

While I'm not one for the spotlight, I do know how important it is to have an about me page--so if you've made it this far & you're curious about the random stranger from the internet taking your picture, look no further.

As you know by now, my name is Kylie (Kai is a nickname!)  I officially picked up a camera with the intent to make it a business in 2021, though I had a knack for stealing my mom's old-school DSLR for various random photo shoots as a youth (sorry, mom). This habit found me as an adult when my friend graciously lent me her Sony A6600 (thank you, Chels) to take self-taught product photos for my then-apothecary business.

After a few interesting attempts, I was taken under the wings of my good friend Jenn, a fantastic & successful photographer herself, who has taught me all the rules--and watched me lovingly learn how to both apply them and...break them, of course. At the time, I had no intentions of becoming a photographer--I just wanted to take pictures of my perfumes without them looking busted--but eventually Jenn planted the seed in my mind: "What if you took pictures of people?"

At first, I was like, "Pshhhh, I could never do what Jenn does--that's crazy!" but lo & behold, then-Kylie is eating her words: I am literally a professional photographer now.

Crazy how life works sometimes.
